Well our part for the boat has not come in yet so we decided to leave the dogs at a kennel and take off. Monday we left and headed to Vicksburg MS in our truck. We spent most of the day visiting the Vicksburg National Battle Field. We then headed down to New Orleans. We spent the last 2 days exploring the city. Lots of jazz, interesting cemeteries, Bourbon St, and big mansions. Road all over in the streetcars and of course plenty of walking. Us down by the Mississippi River. So beignets are very popular in New Orleans. They are like a square doughnut with way too much powdered sugar on them. OK tomorrow we head back to Columbus,MS marina and pick up the dogs. Things have been going well don’t know what tomorrow will bring.
We left Nick’s place on Sunday and we are now in Moore Haven,Florida. We’re at a marina on the Florida intracoastal waterway near Lake Ocheecoobee. I had to take a picture of our boat because we are so little compared to everyone else. The big adventure now is we have no water since leaving Nicks. Don’t know what happened to the water pump but we will have to order a new one. Hope it doesn’t take as long to get here as the prop. I’ve been using bottled water to cook and wash dishes. So guess what…we booked a last minute cruise leaving tomorrow. It’s on Holland America an Eastern Caribbean cruise for one week. Very good deal when you book last minute. We leave out of Fort Lauderdale at 3pm. We found a kennel for the dogs for that week. Won’t take us long to pack as we have very little amount of clothes and no suitcases. Should be fun as our belongs will be in bags. Can’t wait for someone else to cook and a big bed with no dogs!
Happy Thanksgiving from the captain and first mate of the J Dawn! We are still in Columbus, MS. The weather is sunny and high today of 56 degrees low last night of 35. We are very thankful for our heater! The marina filled up last night. I guess a lot of boaters are staying here for Thanksgiving. The big excitement for today is we get to go to Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving dinner. That’s about the only place open here except fast food. Hope everyone has a wonderful day with family and friends. We have so much to be thankful for…
